Known for its large population of warthogs. Tarangire National Park is the second-largest national park on Tanzania’s famous Northern safari circuit. It supports much higher densities of elephant. Studded with ancient baobab trees, this underrated park is at its best in the Dry season, when large herds of wildlife are attracted to the Tarangire River. Elephants aside, other wildlife includes lion, leopard, buffalo, giraffe, a wide variety of antelope and more than 500 bird species. It covers an area of approximately 2,850 square kilometers.
